The Millionaire Chess Tournament is dedicated to offering the highest quality competitive experience, one that fosters an orderly, enjoyable environment for players and upholds the integrity of the game. Our mission is to create an atmosphere conducive to concentration and focus, ensuring fair play while maintaining stringent measures against cheating.
Playing Room Rules
- Silence is required in the playing hall to maintain a focused and respectful environment.
- Players are not allowed to open food packaging or consume food at the tables during the event. Alcoholic beverages are also prohibited in the tournament room.
- After finishing their game, players must promptly move to the designated skittles rooms. Post-mortem analysis is not permitted in the playing hall.
- Spectators within the playing room must remain silent and will be monitored by tournament staff to ensure compliance with these rules.
Electronic Devices Policy
- No electronic devices are allowed during play, including phones, PDAs, computers, earphones, headsets, or any other similar equipment, unless expressly permitted by a Tournament Director (TD). This includes devices for medical purposes, which also require approval.
- Any player found using or wearing such devices will forfeit the round, and the incident will be investigated to determine whether further disciplinary action, such as dismissal from the tournament, is necessary.
- If a player’s cell phone rings during a game, they will lose ten minutes from their clock. A second occurrence will result in an automatic forfeit of the game.
Spectator Guidelines
- Spectators are restricted to a specially designated area within the tournament room. They are not allowed in the spaces where players are actively competing.
- Communication between spectators and players is strictly prohibited during gameplay.
- Spectators are required to silence their phones. If a phone rings during a game, the spectator must leave the tournament room immediately.
- Food and beverages are not permitted in the playing area for spectators, and they are also forbidden from using the player’s only bathroom.
- Tournament staff reserves the right to remove any spectator who disrupts the event or fails to follow the established rules.
Check-In Procedures
- All players must check in at the registration desk before the tournament begins to confirm their attendance and receive an informational packet.
- Players are required to present proof of identification upon check-in. Acceptable IDs include a driver’s license, passport, student ID, or birth certificate for minors. This step must be completed by the first round and ensures the integrity of player identification.
Player Behavior Expectations
- Players are prohibited from engaging in conversation with spectators or other competitors during game play.
- Unprofessional behavior such as rude or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated. The tournament organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to any player who does not adhere to the expected standards of conduct.
Player Attire
- To present chess in the best light, we strongly encourage players to wear casual business attire (e.g., slacks, shirt, and jacket) during the tournament. If this is not feasible for the entire event, players should wear a collared shirt (polo shirts are acceptable).
- We request that players avoid wearing tank tops, shorts, or old T-shirts, as we want to maintain a level of professionalism while ensuring comfort during play.
By adhering to these policies, the Millionaire Chess Tournament strives to create an exceptional experience that emphasizes respect for the game, the players, and the audience. Your cooperation helps ensure a fair, smooth, and enjoyable event for all involved.
