After careful reflection and deliberation, the decision to host MC3 was made, and we’re excited to bring this prestigious event to the East Coast. While the first two editions of Millionaire Chess were considered a huge success in terms of branding and marketing, there were certain challenges that needed to be addressed. Specifically, the difficulty of securing enough sponsors and attracting a larger player base posed significant hurdles. For a period of time, the future of the tournament was uncertain, and the idea of canceling the event was on the table. However, by mid-January, the Millionaire Chess team took a step back and began rethinking the event’s structure. We explored different ways to restructure the tournament in a way that would make financial sense and ensure its sustainability in the long term.
After considering various options, we decided that a new location, paired with a revised event structure, would help to solve some of the challenges we faced in the past. Atlantic City, with its rich history and reputation for delivering top-notch events, offers a fresh and exciting backdrop for this year’s tournament. We believe this new setting, combined with our refined approach, will help attract more participants, engage sponsors, and create a more vibrant atmosphere for the event.
